PHRI was strongly represented at the 2025 Canadian Cardiovascular Congress, with several of our scientists’ leading presentations, workshops, and panels on key topics in cardiovascular research, care, and innovation.
Scientist André Lamy shared new findings from the PHRI CORONARY trial, highlighting improved outcomes with off-pump CABG in Canada at five years.
Senior Scientist Jeff Healey presented on the LAAOS-4 trial as part of the session discussing the present and future of LAA Occlusion. He was also one of the panelists discussing top arrhythmia trials in 2024/2025 for the clinical community.
Scientist William McIntyre presented insights from the ARTESiA trial as one of the top 4 arrhythmia trials in 2024-2025 along with research fellow Alex Benx. McIntyre also chaired sessions on Canadian Perspectives on Late Breaking Clinical Trials and innovations in electrophysiology.
Senior Scientist Sonia Anand presented on bridging basic science, clinical care, and population health; Canada’s impact on global cardiovascular care; practical frameworks for managing Lp(a); and peripheral artery disease in Canada. She also joined a panel discussion on navigating professional challenges in a culture of bullying.
Scientist Emilie Belley-Côté spoke on blood utilization and transfusion in cardiovascular disease, and co-chaired and presented at the CCS Guideline Recommendations workshop, joined by Investigator Rachel Eikelboom as a trainee presenter.
Scientist J.D. Schwalm presented during a workshop on the CCS Secondary Prevention Pathway for post-acute coronary syndrome care, while Senior Scientist Harriette Van Spall contributed as a planning committee member for HFpEF Update 2025.
