The objective of the HIP ATTACK Pilot study was to determine the feasibility and resource requirements of accelerated surgery and medical clearance as well as recruitment and follow-up of study participants.

The primary outcome of the pilot study was to evaluate the feasibility of enrolling 60 patients and achieving arrival into the operating room within six hours of diagnosis in 80 percent of patients randomized to accelerated surgery.

Primary outcome measure:

Feasibility.

Secondary outcome measures:

Composite of mortality, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal pulmonary embolism, nonfatal pneumonia, nonfatal sepsis, nonfatal stroke, and nonfatal life-threatening and major bleeding.
