PHRI’s Director of Statistics and Senior Scientist, Shrikant I. Bangdiwala, PhD, and a Professor, Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact, McMaster University, has been named as a member of the USA NIH National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) COVID-19 Preventive mAb Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB).

The DSMB will be reviewing and monitoring, and evaluating the ongoing safety and efficacy of data from US government-supported clinical trials of candidate preventive monoclonal Antibodies for SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19.
Composed of individuals from a variety of disciplines and includes clinicians, ethicists, statisticians, and other scientists, the recommendations of the DSMB will have important implications for public health on a global scale. The first meeting of the DSMB was on July 1st, 2020.
