PHRI participated in the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM 2023) August 5 – 10 in Toronto – the largest gathering of statistics professionals in North America and one of the largest in the world.

JSM was founded by the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the International Biometric Society, and the Statistical Society of Canada, and has expanded to include several other countries’ statistical societies. This year JSM drew more than 5000 attendees from 52 countries (including about 1000 students), with 600+ sessions and more than 40 professional development short courses and workshops.

Staff from PHRI’s statistics department attended, both as an exhibitor (one of more than 100 booths) and as an employer hiring statistical roles. At the booth, new prizes were given out every day to visitors playing the “proportional guesses” of coloured markers – a popular game!
