PHRI researchers organized The Canadian Perspective: Breaking News from AHA 2020 with iMedicus, Canada’s livestream CME channel. PHRI Senior Scientist Jeff Healey and PHRI Scientist Harriette Van Spall co-chaired the Dec. 10th online event.
The event (hashtag #AHACan20) had the objectives of: examining the methodology and results of the latest cardiovascular clinical trials presented at AHA 2020 Scientific Sessions; discussing the implications of emerging cardiovascular treatments on clinical practice; and assessing strategies to decrease adverse outcomes through improved prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Salim Yusuf presented virtually at the top of the event on the results of the TIPS-3 study that were released during AHA 2020, and at the same time published in The New England Journal of Medicine.
