Members of PHRI’s statistics team took part in the 2026 Statistical Society of Canada annual meeting at McMaster University in Hamilton from May 31 to June 3. The meeting brought together statisticians from across Canada to share research and discuss current issues in the field.
Shun Fu Lee, senior principal biostatistician, delivered a talk on “Implementing Sample Size Re-estimation (SSRE) in Clinical Trials,” sharing experiences and insights from PHRI.
Chinthanie Ramasundarahettige, statistical coordinator, presented on “Total Event Analysis in the Presence of Between-Subject Heterogeneity in Cardiovascular Trials with Composite Outcomes.”
Rajibul Mian, senior biostatistician, also took part and delivered a talk on “Powering Clinical trials: Pairwise comparison.” Yueci Zhou, statistician, presented a poster titled “Multi-State Models for Treatment Effects in Cardiovascular Trials: Beyond Time-to-First Composite Endpoints.”
Shrikant Bangdiwala, director of statistics, and Kumar Balasubramanian, operations manager statistics, were also at the PHRI booth during the meeting. PHRI’s participation also included volunteer support from Zunaira Mehmood, PHRI research fellow.
The meeting was a great opportunity for PHRI to reconnect with colleagues and contribute to important conversations on novel approaches in statistical methodology and clinical trials.
