The city of Hamilton has lost a generous supporter of health care and health research, along with many other local institutions, with the passing of David Braley, 79, two days ago.

His generous contributions were instrumental to the 2010 opening of the David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute – home to PHRI.

David Braley gave the initial $10 million for the construction of the $105 million building.

“By supporting the David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute, which brings together 500 researchers [including those at TaARI as well as the more than 300 at PHRI] the impact of his generosity was also global,” says Salim Yusuf, PHRI’s Executive Director.

He adds, “David Braley was committed to improving health in Hamilton and contributing to the betterment of the local community.”
