An online townhall featuring a panel of medical experts from McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences, as well as Canada’s member of government responsible for vaccine delivery, was attended by more than 100 people with dozens of questions about the safety, effectiveness of the vaccines.

The hour and a half long “COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Townhall” was hosted by PHRI, McMaster University, Hamilton Health Sciences and and Vishnu Mandir, a Hindu temple located in the Greater Toronto area represented at the webinar by Dr. Budhendranauth Doobay.

This webinar was video-recorded with the permission of all speakers, with recording announced to all participants at the beginning of this event, 7 pm ET, Thursday, June 17, 2021.

Questions about types of vaccine supplied in Canada were directed at guest speaker, The Honourable Anita Anand, federal Minister of Public Services & Procurement. Health concerns, such as COVID-19 vaccine side efects, were directed at the live panel of  medical experts:

  • Dr. Sonia Anand (epidemiology; vascular specialist); PI of the COVID CommUNITY-South Asian study recently launched in the Greater Toronto Area, and soon to start in the Greater Vancouver Area.
  • Dr. Zain Chagla, (infectious disease)
  • Dr. Menaka Pai (hematology and thromboembolism)
  • Dr. Raj Grewal (emergency medicine).
