Raed Joundi

Congratulations to PHRI Scientist Raed Joundi on receiving the World Stroke Congress Young Investigator Award at the 17th WSC in Barcelona.

The Young Investigator Award is a prestigious recognition that highlights and supports emerging researchers in the field of stroke. It is specifically designed for young physicians, allied health professionals, and nurses who are making significant contributions to stroke research and care.

Joundi’s research focuses on developing and evaluating strategies to improve functional outcomes, cognition, and quality of life for people with cerebrovascular disease.

He is a researcher with PHRI’s Brain Health Program and is currently the principal investigator of PROSPECT. The study tracks recovery after stroke, measuring cognitive and functional outcomes over five years, and provides a platform for sub-studies and embedded clinical trials to advance understanding and care.

Joundi is a stroke neurologist at Hamilton Health Sciences and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Neurology) at McMaster University.
