Members of PHRI’s statistics team took the stage at the 46th Annual Meeting of the Society for Clinical Trials (SCT 2025), held May 18–21 in Vancouver.
Shofiqul Islam, Senior Principal Biostatistician at PHRI, delivered a talk on “Accounting for Center-Level Effects in Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trials.”
Lehana Thabane, PHRI Associate Senior Scientist, chaired and spoke in the session “DSMB Reflections: Key Takeaways From Experience,” which explored the evolving role of Data and Safety Monitoring Boards (DSMBs) in trial oversight. The session was co-organized by Shun-Fu Lee, PHRI Statistical Coordinator.
P.J. Devereaux, PHRI Senior Scientist and Deputy Director, chaired and spoke in the session “Improving the Clinical Trial Ecosystem to Efficiently Generate Robust Research and Improve Care,” which focused on practical and policy-level strategies to streamline trials while ensuring high-quality evidence.
The team’s involvement extended to poster presentations as well. Fei F. Yuan, Senior Biostatistician at PHRI, presented work on “Benchmarking Subgroup Health Technology Assessment Analysis,” and Shrikant I. Bangdiwala, PHRI Director of Statistics, presented a poster on “Pragmatic Monitoring of Emerging Efficacy Data in Randomized Controlled Trials.”
