PHRI researchers participated in the Centre for Global Peace, Justice & Health Symposium: Decolonial Health Justice, held on March 25 at McMaster University. The full‑day symposium brought together scholars, clinicians, students, and community leaders for discussions focused on decolonial approaches to health, global justice, and public health practice.

Salim Yusuf, PHRI founder, emeritus executive director, and senior scientist, delivered opening remarks, which were followed by panel discussions on decolonial interventions and global health, as well as sessions exploring ethics, humanitarian healthcare, and health advocacy.

Sonia Anand, PHRI senior scientist, participated in the roundtable discussion “Who Thrives in Canada?”, which examined health equity, social determinants of health, and the structural factors influencing who benefits most from health systems and research in Canada.

PHRI was proud to be one of the sponsors of the symposium and to support interdisciplinary dialogue that advances equity and justice informed approaches to health research and practice.
