Preventing pAIn with Nmda antagonists-Steroids in Thoracoscopic lObectomy Procedures (PAIN-STOP)

Overview

This pilot study will assess the feasibility of a larger randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating NMDA antagonists and IV steroids, as compared to placebo, in decreasing the chances of clinically significant persistent post-surgical pain (PPSP) after video assisted thoracoscopic surgeries (VATS). Patients will be recruited at 2 centres over 5 months and will be followed to 3 months post-surgery.

Multi-centre, blinded, randomized controlled trial with 2 X 2 factorial design

Primary Endpoint

Proportion of: 1) eligible patients recruited; 2) patients adhering to the study protocol; and 3) patients completing the follow-up at 3 month.
