Robert Hart

Robert Hart’s are big shoes to fill. As lead of PHRI’s brain health and stroke research program, the Senior Scientist joined PHRI and McMaster University in 2011, after spending most of his career at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. Although he’ll remain as PI on several studies, he is stepping down from his leadership role at PHRI.

As such, PHRI and the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, invite applications from experienced academic physician-researchers for the position of Canada Research Chair Tier 1 and Director of Neurology Research.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful clinical research and of building and leading research programs. Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the province of Ontario.

This is a full-time academic faculty position for a period of seven years (renewable). Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A research chair may be available.

The host institutions will contribute a substantial endowment to support the core costs of the program. The Director will be required to generate additional funds from peer review grants, industry, philanthropy and other sources. It is expected that the Director will identify and recruit additional research scientists and provide mentorship with the objective of creating an internationally recognized and high-impact research team.
