PHRI is seeking a System Administrator 2 to join our Information, Communications and Technologies team!

Position summary
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on technical administration of systems under their areas of specialty through the proactive management of system performance, integrity, availability, and security.
  • Ensure reliability of services and applications, and assist in developing and implementing standards for system maintenance, configuration and availability.
  • Ensure all production systems have been implemented following PHRI policies and procedures and meet appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Support testing and validation efforts to ensure systems, services, and applications related to their area of responsibility are fit for intended use.
  • Write Job Aids, Work Instructions, SOPs and any other necessary documentation as required.
  • Analyze captured metrics to identify any performance, reliability or security issues and report any such issues to Senior System Administrator.
  • Produce reports that detail the short and long term efficiency and effectiveness of systems and applications applicable to their area of specialty.
  • Monitor, capture and report system usage and performance metrics.
  • Ensure timely troubleshooting of system related issues to find and document the root cause.
    Create remediation plans for system issues and ensure stakeholders are informed appropriately.
QualificationS:
  • Diploma or Associates Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Minimum 3 years of technical support experience.
  • A reasonable technical understanding of one to three of the following technical skills is required
  • Virtualization, windows, authentication, communications, storage, data management, backups, networking, UNIX and security.
  • Effective communication skills are required.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills are required
SKILL SET REQUIRED:
  • Microsoft Windows Server Technical Administration (Ideally High Availability Windows Clusters)
  • Microsoft Infrastructure Application Administration (Ideally Exchange/SQL/IIS Services)
  • VMWare virtualization and/or Cloud based service support experience
  • Powershell scripting and Windows administration automation experience
  • Nice to have Window/Linux operating system integration experience

This is a Hamilton Health Sciences regular full-time posting: 37.5 hours/week Monday through Friday, based in Hamilton, Ontario.
