Overview

Heart failure (HF) has been referred to as a global epidemic; yet, there is very little information from lower and middle income countries. INTER-CHF is a prospective registry conducted in 108 centers from 15 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. Patients with a clinical diagnosis of HF were prospectively enrolled over one year in clinical outpatient and hospital inpatient health care settings. A total of 5764 patients with HF were recruited: 2650 from Asia, 1000 from the Middle East, 1291 from Africa and 823 from South America. Clinical outcomes (the primary endpoint is all-cause mortality at one year) will be assessed. INTER-CHF is the first registry to be conducted in HF patients in lower and middle income countries, and the information collected will help fill in important gaps in the understanding of HF globally
