Overview

To investigate the effects of a simple walking intervention on patients admitted to a rehabilitation unit after stroke. 30 patients will be recruited in the control phase (15 for each site) and this phase will provide key data on the feasibilty of recruitment, site suitability and quanify the level of usual activity at the sites. Following the completion of the control phase, 15 patients will be recruited in the intervention phase. In addition to the objectives of the control phase, the intervention phase will also provide data on the adherence to a simple walking intervention, which was developed in an earlier development study. Once completed, data from the pilot study will be used to design a larger study.
