Dr. Nieuwlaat is a Principal Investigator for the Knowledge Translation program at the Population Health Research Institute, and Assistant Professor within the Department of Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics at McMaster University. Dr. Nieuwlaat holds a Masters of Health Sciences and Epidemiology, and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from Maastricht University in The Netherlands. Dr. Nieuwlaat received a Rubicon award from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) for his post-doctoral research at the Population Health Research Institute, and has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers. His main research interests include the assessment of evidence-practice gaps and barriers to recommended care, as well as interventions to improve the implementation of recommended care and thereby population cardiovascular outcomes.
