Dr. Leong graduated from the University of Adelaide Medical School with Deans Listing and Honours for academic excellence in 2000. He completed his cardiology training, Doctor of Philosophy, and Master of Public Health degrees at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He then completed a post-doctorate fellowship in cardiovascular imaging at the Leiden University Medical Centre, the Netherlands, before re-locating to Canada. Dr. Leong has received a number of accolades, including the Michael G. DeGroote Fellowship Award, McMaster University, 2013, and the E.J.Moran Campbell Career Award, McMaster University, 2014, and he has published >90 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Leong is leading the development of a research and clinical program for the evaluation and mangement of cardiovascular disease in patients with cancer. He is co-principal investigator of RADICAL PC, a prospective study of cardiovascular disease in 6000 men with prostate cancer.  Dr. Leong also works in the Project Teams for the COMPASS trial, and the PURE study, and in cardiovascular imaging. Dr. Leong is an Emerging Leader in the World Heart Federation.
