The population Health Research Institute (PHRI) is affiliated with the Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster University. The PHRI coordinates worldwide clinical trials and epidemiological studies, and is committed to medical research and training.


The Goals of the PHRI Training Awards

The PHRI training awards have been established to provide funding to encourage and promote individuals who want to participate in PHRI research programs. While working at the PHRI, individuals will partake in the conducting and organizing of clinical trials and epidemiological research studies.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Must hold a PhD in the field of life sciences or statistics

$40,000/year

Medical Fellowship Completed a medical training and demonstrated real interest and productivity in research

$50,000/year*

Studentship Must be currently enrolled in a PhD/MD program 

 March 1

$18,000/year*

1 per year

Summer Studentship Must have completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate degree in life sciences

February 1 

 $1,450/month

6 per year**

*     Subject to Funding
**    Four Months Maximum

Preference for all categories would be given to those who have worked previously at the Population Health Research Institute.


Requirements

- Candidates are asked to submit a CV and 2 letters of references emphasizing research experience and potential.

- Candidates must identify a supervisor and write a 500-word synopsis of what research they plan

- Candidates must write a 500-word essay addressing the following areas:

  1. Describe Goals and objectives during this period.
  2. How have you prepared to do research work?
  3. How do you see this experience helping you towards to your short-term and long-term career goals?
