Our Values
Our Values and Operating Standards

 < back

  • Respect: We will treat every person with dignity and courtesy

  • Caring: We will act with concern for the well being of every person

  • Innovation: We will be creative and open to new ideas and opportunities

  • Accountability: We will create value and accept responsibility for our activities.

Code of Conduct

The HHS Values-Based Code of Conduct builds on all of the Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation (HHS) values, particularly RESPECT. Our work environment is a complex blend of Hospital and University based staff and programs; therefore we work together to promote an environment that encourages mutual respect. We share the basic principle: to treat people the way you would like to be treated by them. It is the responsibility of each member to listen to each other and work collaboratively. We take ownership and accountability for our behaviour in our work environment.

To Whom Does the HHS Values Based Code of Conduct Apply?
The Code of Conduct applies to all members of Hamilton Health Sciences, which includes employees, medical/professional staff, board members, contract staff, volunteers, learners, students and also applies to our affiliated McMaster University staff members working on our sites. The Code of Conduct applies equally to everyone, at all levels. In order to create a positive work environment, all members hold one another accountable for upholding the Code of Conduct. Thus, regardless of our position within the organization, we are all empowered to respectfully address behaviours we experience or observe that do not align with the Code of Conduct.
